The Water Development Department is responsible for implementing the water policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment for the rational development and management of water resources of Cyprus. In this context, the responsibilities of the Department cover a wide and diverse spectrum, including:

a) Collecting, processing, and classification of hydrological, hydrogeological, geotechnical and other data necessary for the design, maintenance and security of development projects.


b) Study, design, construction, operation and maintenance of infrastructure such as dams, reservoirs, irrigation, water supply and sewage networks, water treatment, wastewater treatment and reuse wastewater and desalination of water.


c) Protection of water resources from contamination and pollution of the environment.


d)
Raising of consumers' awareness about water conservation.
