Molecular Biology Laboratory



The Molecular Biology Laboratory (MBL) was established in 2001 mainly through EU funds and supports research at the molecular level in close collaboration with most ARI Departments and International Institutions. The MBL research concerns plants, animals, insects and microorganisms using advanced molecular techniques and state-of-the art laboratory equipment.

Research Interests
Development and exploitation of advanced molecular and biochemical methods for gene identification and characterization of genetic traits and their mode of action.

  • Development and exploitation of molecular markers on plants
  • Scrapie (PrP) genotype identification in Chios sheep
  • Scrapie (PrP) genotype identification in Damascus goat
