Director's Curicculum Vitae

    The Director Dr Androula Georgiou, was born in 1959 in Karavas, Kyrenia District. Attended Lapithos Gymnasium (high school) until 1974, graduating from the All Girls Kykkos Gymnasium in 1977.

    In 1982 she graduated from the Biology Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, from which she went on to earn a PhD in Botany/Genetics of grasses.

    In 1989 she was appointed Agricultural Research Officer in the Agricultural Research Institute in Cyprus.

    She then continued with postgraduate studies in Plant Sciences, at the University of Riverside, California, United States of America, specializing in Horticulture/Citrus fruit production. In 2005 she earned an MBA in management and public administration from the Mediterranean Institute of Management.

    During her time at the Agricultural Research Institute she was promoted to the position of Head of Horticulture/Viticulture and Head of the Production Division.

    Her Research programmes aimed to solve problems in Cyprus agriculture mainly in relation to citrus fruits production. She also, participated in European research programmes and projects of the Research Promotion Foundation. The results of her research activity have been published in the magazine «Farmer», «Agricultural News», daily press, as well as in international journals.

    She is a member of several scientific societies and councils and has served as a member of the Olive Products Council and Cyprus Agricultural Registration Council.,
