One of the most important tools for tackling climate change is funding. Both due to international and European obligations and due to political decisions, developed countries must contribute to the reinforcement of developing countries to develop low-carbon technology and adapt to climate change.
On the basis of Regulation (EC) 525/2013, EU Member States need to inform the European Commission for the support provided to developing countries in accordance with the relevant provisions of the UNFCCC.
Cyprus has funded projects worth €1.2 million over the period 2010-2012 in Nepal and the Eastern Caribbean. The projects are ongoing with the adaptation and development of resilience towards climate change.
