Forest Measures RDP 2014-2020


The Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, prepared by the three cooperating competent authorities, namely:
(a) Managing Authority of Rural Development Programme (MARDP)
(b) Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organisation (CAPO) and
(c) Department of Forests

and approved by the European Commission, on 3 December, 2015

The total amount available for the measure 8, deriving both from the community and from national resources, 53% + 47% respectively, is € 6.5 million.
The Department of Forests – as a Delegated body of CAPO - is responsible for the implementation of Measure 8, "Investments in developing of forest areas and improving the sustainability of forests" of Rural Development Programme 2014 - 2020.

Measure 8 includes four (4) Schemes as below:

Scheme 8.1: "Afforestation and woodland creation”,

Scheme 8.3: "Prevention of damage to forests from fires, natural disasters and catastrophic events ",

Scheme 8.4: "Restoration of damage to forests from forest fires, natural disasters and catastrophic events ",

Scheme 8.5: "investments which improve durability and environmental value of forest ecosystems ".

The Scheme 8.5 includes three (3) Actions as below:

8.5.1 “ Investments to improve the value of forests as a public good ",

8.5.2 “ Actions and projects for the conservation and enhancement of biodiversity in forests “,

8.5.3 "Spacing in dense clusters woodlands/reforestation to improve resistance of forests ".

So far, the three competent authorities, cooperating on this issue, released three of the four Schemes of Measure 8, as the table below:





All Applications received are in credit and evaluation stage to illustrate which applications will be approved and which not. As always, all applicants will be notified in writing, by the head of the Rural development programme implementation Unit, Department of Forests on the approval or rejection of their application.
