Republic of Cyprus
Welcome to our website

The Symposium for the release of the Geochemical Atlas of Cyprus is hosted by the Geological Survey Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, of the Republic of Cyprus. The Symposium celebrates the release of the Geochemical Atlas of Cyprus, a five-year project, developed in collaboration with the University of New South Wales (Australia) and ADCS International Ltd. The Symposium is being held under the auspices of the Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment. The 3-day event will be held in the capital city of Cyprus, Lefkosia, and will focus on regional geochemical mapping, environmental, medical and urban geochemistry, with world respected speakers from these fields presenting on local and international examples.
The final day of the symposium will include a full day field trip to the Troodos Ophiolite with stops at several points of unique geological and geochemical significance including a visit to one of the oldest copper mines in the world, the Skouriotissa mine, with some 4000 years of mining history.

Welkome to Lefkosia!
