 The Engineering Geology is the responsible section for the panning, implementation and evaluation of the various geotechnical investigations, carried out for the Development Plans and other Technical Projects of the Government. The Section, also, provides expertise and technical advise on the foundation conditions of the engineering components of major projects and on various other problems encountered in Cyprus, such as:
a. Landslides of natural and manmade slopes, such as landslides,
b. Rock falls,
c. Foundation problems in loose and compressible soils, especially in the coastal zones,
d. Problems in the expansive clayey soils, and
e. Problems due to the presence and development of karstic features (sinkholes e.t.c.)
