The Project ICOSTACY, “Improving the conservation status of fauna species in Cyprus: from microhabitat restoration to landscape connectivity” is a LIFE Plus-Nature project, with a total cost of €1.241.007. The financial support from the European Commission is set at 50% of the total eligible cost.

2nd Training seminar for staff serving in the management of natural and/or rural areas.
The second training seminar for the staff serving in the management of natural/rural areas (action D5 of the project LIFE ICOSTACY) was conducted on Friday 25/10/2013. The results of the project for the status of the species, as well as the measures that have been taken for conservation, protection and restoration of the species and their habitats, were presented in the seminar.
The seminar took place at the Agricultural Research Institute in Nicosia.

In the context of the World Earth Day, the Primary School of Agios Andreas and its Parents’ Association will organize the event GREEN SCHOOL-GREEN NEIGHBOURHOOD at the school yard, on Saturday 20th of April 2013 at 11.00-13.00.
The event is sponsored by the Parliament President. The Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, the Minister of Education and Culture, the Mayor of Nicosia as well as deputies, will be present. The event is also supported by Green Dot and the Cyprus Green Party.
LIFE-ICOSTACY Project will participate to the event with the use of the portable educational kit, the distribution of booklets and stickers for the fauna in Cyprus and by showing an informational desk display.

On Wednesday 13.3.2013, the 7th Kindergarten of Limassol and the Primary School Agioi Anarguroi-Michalis Kakogiannis of Larnaca, will visit the Limassol Zoo. In the context of the visit, a number of presentations concerning the fauna of Cyprus will be done by the Department of Environment. Moreover, a series of educational activities will be held using the portable educational kit produced by the project ICOSTACY.

Today, on Monday 11.3.2013, a 90min presentation was conducted to 3rd year students of the Department of Primary Education of the University of Nicosia. The presentation concerned the herpetofauna of Cyprus, the captive breeding which is carried out in the context of ICOSTACY, as well as the presentation of the portable educational kit of Action D4, as an educational tool.
