The Jersey Tiger moth Euplagia (=Callimorpha) quadripunctaria is a very common species, widely distributed across Europe. It has a preference for forest edges and habitats with watery elements, in particular creeks. Due to lack of data from Cyprus, Greece and Spain, the status of the species throughout the Mediterranean region is impossible to be assessed. It is threatened by the collections by butterfly enthusiasts, habitat loss and fragmentation due to logging, land re-use, etc.
Priority for the species is the collection of data on its distribution. The finding of new localities as to better describe the species’ area of distribution. Through this, the clarification of the species habitat preferences and through genetics the location of possible discontinuities of subpopulations.
