Hide details for Tadarida teniotisTadarida teniotis

Tadarida teniotis occurs mainly in the Mediterranean, Middle East and the Caucasus, but there are several isolated patches east to China. It roosts in rock crevices and buildings, occasionally in cracks of trees. In Cyprus it is moderately common.
T. teniotis is probably threatened by disturbance and loss of roosts in buildings, destruction of colony cliffs and by use of pesticides.
Priorities for the species are:
1. Systematic monitoring of the species’ colonies.
2. Identification of critical feeding areas.
3. Protection of the species’ refuges.
4. Public awareness.
5. Restriction in the use of agrochemicals.
