On this page you will find the applications which are required so that you may apply for licences according to the Mines and Quarries legislation and according to the Explosive Substances legislation.

Below you will find instructions for the submission of applications in question.

    Mines and Quarries Legislation

The application for a Prospecting Permit is submitted for the exploration of minerals or quarry materials with the completion of the corresponding form accompanied by the data requested. The application for the renewal of a Prospecting Permit is submitted 20-30 days before its expiry.

The application for a Mining Lease or a Quarry Licence is submitted for the exploitation of minerals or quarry materials respectively. Further to the supplemented form, the application has to be accompanied by the corresponding in force Town planning Permit for the development of a mine or a quarry in the application area. For the submission to the Town planning Authorities of an application for issuing a Town planning Permit for the development of a mine or a quarry in a free area of a Mining or a Quarrying Zone, the applicant has to be the holder of the Certificate of Competency for the specific area, which is issued under the provisions of the Mines and Quarries legislation, concerning the applications for the grant of mining leases and quarry licences.

If the applicant is a legal person a recent certificate of constitution and a statute has to be submitted with the application.

    Explosive Substances Legislation

The Certificate of Competency (ΠΙΚ) is granted by the Inspector of Explosive Substances, only to individuals who are judged capable and suitable to carry out works in which blasting explosives and pyrotechnic articles classified as high explosives are involved. This certificate does not constitute a licence but simply certifies that its holder is capable to carry out the work which is mentioned on this certificate.

The application to construct a warehouse for explosives (ΟΙΚ), to store ammunition (ΑΠΥ) or pyrotechnic articles (ΑΠΡ) and for use of explosives or pyrotechnic articles (ΧΠΧ, ΧΕΥ, ΧΠΥ) is submitted with the completion of the corresponding form.

For the other applications, the General Form (ΓΕΝΕΥ) and the form that corresponds in each case are submitted.

If the applicant is a legal person a recent certificate of constitution and a statute has to be submitted with the application.

With the submission of each application (not ΠΙΚ and ΟΙΚ), the name of the natural person or the holder of the appropriate Certificate of Competency which is going to conduct the work to be determined by the license, the approval or the consent has to be declared. The written declaration which shows that this person is willing to undertake the work aforesaid has to be submitted for this purpose. Concerning the licenses, the approvals and the consents for gun and blasting powder, ammunition and pyrotechnic articles the Certificate of Criminal Record of the natural person who is related with them has to be submitted. Concerning the use of blasting powder and high pyrotechnic articles and all cases of the rest explosive substances, this person has to be a holder of the appropriate Certificate of Competency ΠΙΚ.

Upon reception of a complete application accompanied by all supporting documents, if the Inspector of Explosive Substances does not issue the relevant document (license, approval or consent) in 10 working days, he will send to the applicant a notice to inform him of the time that the document shall be issued. The applicant is also informed of the means of redress which are at his disposal, in case the application would be rejected. In the event of a deficit application, the Inspector in 10 working days sends to the applicant a written notice for the correction of the application.

Each document is issued within three months, provided that the conditions which are required in each case are fulfilled.

If the three months period expires, this does not imply that the certificate, the license, the approval or the consent have been granted automatically.

The form having the code ΓΕΝΕΥ accompanied by the document to be reissued may be used for the reissue of a certificate, license, approval or consent.
