1 To which Ministry does the Meteorological Service belong?

The Meteorological Service is a department under the administration of the Ministry of Agriculture Natural Resources and Environment.

2 When was the Meteorological Service established?

The first Meteorological Office was established in 1957 with the appointment of one Meteorologist and two assistants.

3 When were the first outdoor meteorological observations carried out in Cyprus?

The first outdoor meteorological observations were carried out in Larnaka in the period 1866-1870 by the British Vice-consulate Thomas B. Sandwith.

The R.A.F. operates a Synoptic Station at Akrotiri
