Chrysochous GWW

The basic objective of the Chrysochou Irrigation Project is the development of the surface and ground water resources of the Polis tis Chrysochous region for the irrigation of 3 100 hectares within the Chrysochou Valley and Bay area.

The project is implemented in two phases.

Phase I was substantially completed over the period 1984-1988 at a total cost of C£18 million. It included the construction of Evretou dam on Stavros tis Psokas river, a conveyor system, earth ponds, irrigation distribution networks to provide irrigation water to an area of 2 000 hectares and drilling of new boreholes.

Phase II was completed with the the diversion pipeline from the Gialia wier, at a total cost of C£3 million. The main conveyor up to Pomos dam to provide irrigation water to a further area of 1 100 hectares along the Crysochou Bay, between Argaka and Pomos has been completed.
