 | The Water Development Department is the Project Operator for the construction of various sewage and water works as well as for solid waste management projects which are co-financed by the Cohesion Fund within the framework of Priority “Protection of the Environment and Efficient Resources management” of Business programme “Competitiveness and Sustainable Development”.
The Directorate General of European Programmes, Coordination and Development acts as the Management Authority of the European Structural Funds and Investment funds and has the overall responsibility for the management and exploitation of the resources granted.
For the construction monitoring and control of the programmes and projects intended to be co-financed, other public sector bodies are also involved. The Audit Directorate of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works act as the Intermediate Body for the projects of the Water Development Department which are co-financed from the Cohesion Fund.

In addition, the Water Development Department participates as a partner in the implementation of the WΑΤΕRinCORE project which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) within the Priority Axis “Environment” of the Transnational Programme of European Territorial cooperation MED.
