Fisheries Resources

The Fisheries Resources Division’s main task is the protection and sustainable management of the fisheries resources in Cyprus, aiming the maximization of the contribution of fisheries to the domestic fish production and the improvement of working conditions for professional fishermen.

This strategic planning stems and is fully in line with the provisions and regulations of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).

These objectives are achieved through the collection and analysis of biological, statistical and economic data relating to Fisheries and Fisheries research.

In addition, officers of the Fisheries Resources Division participate in several international expert committees and working groups, aiming a better implementation and the promotion of the sector's strategic objectives in the framework of European and International regulations.

Additionally the Division is responsible for the coordination of public contracts issued by the DFMR.
