This research was conducted by the Geological Survey Department in order to assess the extent of the chemical and radiochemical pollution in the area of the industrial unit (fertilizer production) so that these would be taken into consideration during the dismantling activities and during environmental restoration. These goals were of particular importance especially due to the fact that the area is destined for the creation of the Energy Centre of the Republic of Cyprus.
