The Mobile App of the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research, Cy-FIS for smart mobile devices, was developed for registering Fishing Activities by Professional and Amateur Fishermen, as well as other related activities (ie night dives) for the purposes of fisheries resources management by the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research.
Cy-FIS is a free multi-functional application that offers the ability to electronically record and send fisheries data, monitor compliance with fisheries rules and communicate with the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research. It is designed mainly for fishermen and can (optionally) automatically record the position of fishing vessels at sea as well as fishing activities.
It contains an interactive map that can show the vessel's route at sea and informs the user about the closed fishing and restricted fishing areas.
The application was developed for the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research by Quality & Reliability S.A. and co-funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund 2014-2020 - Action 3.1.7 of article 76.2, Measure 3.1 - Control and Enforcement of the Operational Programme (OP) "Thalassa 2014-2020".
For the purpose of recording fishing activities and catches of recreational fisheries, all fishing trips should be reported to the DFMR through the Cy-FIS application. The use of the application is mandatory for all licensed recreational fishermen and for all excursions, while it is voluntary for fishing from shore.
The application must state the fisherman's data, the start and end of the fishing campaign in real time (immediately before the start and immediately after the end), the total catch (kg) per species and length data for some species as needed (there will be a relevant notification). Where two or more licensed fishermen fish from the same vessel, the excursion declaration shall be made by only one (preferably the owner of the vessel), indicating in addition to the above the total number of licensed fishermen on board. Fishermen who for any reason cannot or do not wish to use this application, should fill in the Recreational Fishing Activity Declaration form in real time and enter the details in the online version of the application (dfmrapp.com.cy), within 48 hours from the end of the excursion.
It is emphasized that the initial registration of the user in the system can only be done through the application on a mobile device.

Note: Due to peculiarities of the HarmonyOS operating system, the interactive map of the application does not work for 2023. The rest of the functions of the application – such as recording fishing activities, communication, etc., are fully functional. The map will be available with the new version of the application. For account deletion, please select “REMOVE ACCOUNT” from the mobile application. Specifically:
1. Login to the application
2. From the application menu, select “Account”
3. On the bottom of the page select “Remove Account”
On receiving such a request, DFMR will use reasonable efforts to delete your account and your personal data. The deletion may take up to 30 days. Despite your request for data deletion, we may still have to store some of the stored data due to legal regulations. Furthermore, we will continue to store your data if we have a right to do so in accordance with Art. 17 para. 3 GDPR. This applies in particular if we need your personal data for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.
