STAYING IN STAVROS TIS PSOKAS
In the heart of Pafos Forest, among idyllic and green scenery of exceptional beauty, “Stavros tis Psokas” is found. In this area, one can find the Forestry Station offices, the church of Timios Stavros, a small café and restaurant, footpaths, camping grounds and rest houses. There is also a fenced area, where visitors have the opportunity to marvel at the endemic Mouflon (Ovis gmelini ophion) within its natural habitat.
Visitors at Stavros tis Psokas can spend the night in Pafos Forest by booking to stay at the local forest rest house or in the wooden houses. The rest house includes 7 separate rooms, each with en-suite facilities, housed within a beautiful 2-floor building constructed in 1947 and recently renovated with an aim to tend to the basic needs of its guests. The individual wooden houses have a capacity of up to 4 people.
Moving away from Stavros tis Psokas, there is a choice to take the eastward road which leads to Kykkos Monastery and on to the beautiful Cedar Valley. In the same direction, there is also the choice to visit the village of Panagia and other villages in the area. If one was to follow the westward road, from Stavros tis Psokas towards the village of Lysos, there is the option to visit the Valley of Agios Merkourios where a picnic site is located. This road continues on, passing the location where Evagoras Pallikarides was captured, and through the scenic villages of Lysos, Meladeia, Peristerona and Steni, ending up in Polis Chrysochous.
